The sun came up in my world today, and like Little Orphan Annie sang, the sun will come up tomorrow. The presidential election is over, thank God, and the American people have spoken. Barak Obama will be at the helm for another 4 years. Today is either one of jubilation, or grief, according to what I read on Facebook. It is, in fact, just another day, one in which we have the opportunity to thank God for the numerous blessings we share as citizens of this wonderful nation. In fact, as Christians we are called to honor and pray for our leaders, even if we disagree with their politics. The apostle Paul said this, “ I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.“ 1Timothy 2:1-2. Notice he wrote, FIRST OF ALL, not after your pity party, fault finding or name calling, NO, it should be our primary concern. God wasn’t caught off guard by the results of our voting, He is, and always will be, the one on the Throne, regardless of who occupies the White House. Everyone wants to be a winner, or on the winning team, but let’s face it, someone is the victor and someone loses. While I love the USA, deeply, Jesus reminds us that we are citizens of another kingdom when he said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place." John 18:16. To me, this is a Win-Win situation, proudly an American by birth, and by His grace, an adopted, naturalized citizen of God’s eternal kingdom. Today, let’s put our differences aside, and PRAY for President Obama, his administration and for the future of the United States of America. God Bless America.
