Harassed and Helpless

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” Mat. 9:36. Helpless and harassed, boy that’s a double whammy, like kicking a guy when he’s down. Jesus could have just passed through the crowd without emotion, but he didn’t. What he saw, with human eyes, precipitated a reaction in his godly nature. Compassion. He deeply shared in their suffering. Not merely feeling sorry for them, he truly experienced their pain. It’s hard for us to believe that the Creator of the universe has time to feel our anguish, but he does. “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” Psalm 55:22
